Abstract

Det benyttes en teknikk for styring av en retningsantenne av en slik art som kan brukes sammen med brukerutstyr (UE) i et trådløst kommunikasjonssystem. Optimale vinkelinnstillinger for retningsantennen bestemmes som forskjellige verdier for opplenke og nedlenke. Retningsinnstillinger kan optimaliseres innbyrdes uavhengig. I henhold til ytterligere aspekter blir en optimal retning fastlagt ved å anslå en interferenssignaleffekt som detekteres ut i fra signaler som siver ut fra nærliggende basisstasjoner (tilgangspunkter) og bestemmelse av en retningsinnstilling som minimaliserer interferens overfor nærliggende celler basert på slike målinger. Et ytterligere nivå av sofistikering når det gjelder antennevinkelinnstillinger er å overvåke belastningen av inntilliggende cellesteders basisstasjoner og vedkommende interferens, samt å bestemme innstillinger i samsvar med dette i det formål å nedsette interferensen til slike tungt belastede naboer. I henhold til ytterligere aspekter ved oppfinnelsen kan denne tilpasses til opptaksmodi som er tilpasset retningsinnstillingen i aktivt bruk av systemet.
