Description

Skinnelengde for enskinnebane. Rail length for monorail.

The present invention relates to monorails, and in particular rail lengths for such tracks, where the rail lengths are designed so that they can be connected end to end to form a continuous monorail.

Rail lengths for monorails have been made in different ways, and as examples of such can be referred to German patent nos. 925 652, 955 689 and 1 076 723. The rail lengths described here are, however, of a very complicated construction with brackets attached at each end and the rail length otherwise made up of a large number of parts that must be welded together. For safety reasons, the welds in each rail length should be checked precisely, and the more welds, the more time the inspection work requires and the more expensive the rail lengths become. In the latter of the patents, the rail also has a cylindrical head, which leads to a large consumption of material and increases the weight of the rail length, and common to all of them is that, despite the relatively large consumption of material, they have little stiffness and can therefore become windward when subjected to stress , e.g. by a heavily loaded monorail vehicle running along the rail. The purpose of the present invention is to eliminate these disadvantages in that the rail length according to the invention, with a minimum of material consumption, provides the greatest possible stiffness and is also easy to manufacture and has few welded joints that should be checked. The rail according to the invention is also much easier to handle and to lay in a continuous path than the previously known designs, and the stiffness of the rail length is such that the possibilities for wind bias are significantly reduced.

According to the invention, these advantages are achieved by the rail being made of sheet steel which is bent in a V-shape in such a way that the apex of the V-shape forms the head of the rail and is curved for contact with the wheels of the monorail vehicles, while the sides of the V-shaped rail is attached to the longitudinal foot of the rail length.

Et annet karakteristisk trekk ved oppfinnelsen er at kantene på den V-formede Another characteristic feature of the invention is that the edges of the V-shaped

skinnes sidevegger er sveiset fast til sidene av flensene på et kanaljern som kan danne skinnelengdens fot. the side walls of the rails are welded to the sides of the flanges of a channel iron which can form the foot of the rail length.

In order for the invention to be easier to understand, an embodiment will be described in more detail in the following with reference to the drawing where: Fig. 1, seen from the side, shows a rail length for a monorail according to the invention, partly in section, and

fig. 2 shows a section along the line II—II

på fig. 1. on fig. 1.

In the drawings, the rail length of the monorail includes a longitudinal arch part formed by an inverted channel iron 1 with arch 2 and flanges 3.

A rail 4 with an inverted V shape is attached to the channel iron 1 by welding, and the rail is made of a steel plate bent into a V shape in such a way that the top point 5 of the V shape can form the rail head to carry the wheels of the monorail vehicles. Such a wheel is indicated by dashed lines at 6.

In the embodiment shown, the top point 5 which forms the rail head on the V shape is made curved, but this top point can be bent to any other suitable shape that fits the profile of the wheels of the monorail vehicles.

The lower edges of the sides 7 of the V-shaped rail are welded to the flange 3 of the channel iron 1 as indicated at 8.

In order to reinforce the rail length from the outside, two rail struts 9 with an approximately triangular shape can be attached inside the V-shaped rail 4 at the ends of the rail length. Each of these struts has a T-shaped cross-section formed by a central step 10 which extends inwards in its longitudinal direction.

At each end of the rail length, there are connecting devices for connecting the rail length with a support, so that a number of rail lengths connected one after the other form a continuous, suspended track. The connecting devices at each end comprise a downwardly directed lug 11 which is welded to one end of a cylindrical pin 12. The other end 13 of the pin 12 is thinner and fits into the top of the V-shaped rail shown in fig. 2. As shown in fig. 1, the outer end of the pin 12 forms a surface of the rail head in one with the rail head 5, and the inner end 13 of the pin protrudes through a recess in the top of the rail stiffener 9.

A plate 14 is welded to the arch 2 of the channel iron 1. The plate 14 protrudes from the end of the rail length and has a bore 15 which encloses a pin not shown when the rail length is placed on an associated support.

The invention thus provides a rail length for monorails, which is of simple construction, light in weight and, due to its solid structure, can carry far greater loads than previously known rails.
