Neck support collar provided with a flexible panel having an inner surface, an outer surface and a top surface connecting these two surfaces, which panel can be deformed from a flat configuration into a neck-surrounding band configuration, whereby an element is attached to the panel and is pivotable therefrom from a first position to a second position, which element in the first position is adjacent to the outer surface of the panel, and upon deformation of the panel in the band configuration, this element pivots over the top surface to the second position, wherein it extends transversely of the strap to provide support to a patient's chin, said collar further including means for holding the panel in said neck-surrounding strap configuration.

Neck support collar according to claim 1, characterized in that the panel is provided with a flexible sheet having a front and back surface and a back layer made of cushion material and fixed against the back surface.

Neck support collar according to claim 2, characterized in that the neck-circling band has a width such that the neck support 20 extends between the head and the chest of the patient, the back layer extending above the upper surface for supporting the panel against the patient's head.

Neck support collar according to claim 3, characterized in that the panel has a bottom surface and the back layer extends below the bottom surface to support the panel against the patient's chest.

Neck support collar according to claim 1, characterized in that said element comprises a flexible strip and a cushioning pad is attached to the strip.

Neck support collar according to claim 5, characterized in that the strip has two opposite end parts and an intermediate part, each of the end parts being provided with a ribbon of flexible material attached to the sheet.

Neck support collar according to claim 14, characterized in that the curved surface is provided with spaced shoulder parts, the lip being between the shoulder parts and said element being supported by these shoulder parts when the panel is formed into a neck-circling band.

Neck support collar according to claim 15, characterized in that a portion of the strip extends to said curved surface when the element is folded, the panel being pivotable over said top surface and the top surface providing support to said element when the panel until a band is deformed.

Neck support collar according to claim 1, characterized in that the retaining means comprise two strips, one of which is made of loop material and the other of Velcro material, each strip being locatable near an opposite end of said panel and the strips mutually interlock contact.

Neck support collar according to claim 17, characterized in that SS0 7 2 3 3-9 extends one of the strips of one end portion, while the other strip is applied to the front surface of said sheet.

Neck support collar according to claim 11, characterized in that the panel is provided with a slit communicating with said opening 5, which slit is bounded between two spaced opposite wing sections, which wing sections comprise are movable together to widen the gap or can be overlapped to close the gap.

Neck support collar according to claim 19, characterized in that the panel is provided with means for adjusting and holding said wings at a predetermined mutual distance.

Neck support collar according to claim 20, characterized in that said means comprise a strip of material at or near each of said wings and wherein a strip extends between these material strip parts and can be placed on the material strip parts and can be placed therewith connected for mutually coupling said material strip parts. 3801233
