Abstract

The torpedo-shaped lamp has a screw connection at one end and a light source running along the centre line of the glass envelope. It screws into a socket through an aperture in one side of the roughly hexagonal concave reflector. The reflector is secured in the housing by plates and screws. The reflector is symmetrical about the long axis of the lamp and about a line passing at right angles through the middle of the light source. Two facets on either side of the reflector, near to and symmetrically positioned about the lamp, have shorter radii of curvature than the quasi-parabolic part of the reflector. The facets ensure even illumination along a horizontal line, parallel to the face of the assembly.
