Abstract

The torque converter for a tractor has an input shaft, a planetary gear train and an output shaft. The input shaft drives a change-speed transmission and a planetary gear carrier, while the output shaft of the transmission drives the sun wheel for the planetary gears. The output shaft is reversible and its speed is steplessly adjustable in both directions. The speed of the planetary gear carrier can be at a fixed proportion to that of the power unit. The planetary gear train can incorporate an annulus, solidly coupled to the torque converter output shaft in operation and coaxial to it.
