Abstract
The tensile shock absorber is intended for connection between two parts of a cable such as used for mooring or moving ships, floating cranes, drilling rigs etc. The ends of the two cable parts are connected to pressure elements which, between them, contain a resiliently compressible mechanism inside a damping chamber. The mechanism may comprise a number of rubber buffer members. One connection of the absorber may be connected with its pressure element by a rod extending through the other pressure element and chamber. There may be guides for the movement of the pressure elements relative to one another. One element may be formed as a piston in a cylinder secured to the other element.
