Abstract

The upwards-swinging door has guides at top and bottom so that it moves between a vertical shut position and a horizontal open one in which it is above the doorway, the lower edge of the door travelling in a virtually vertical plane. The opening mechanism comprises an arm rotating on an axis near the top of the door when shut, and coupled to the door by means of a slide travelling in the lengthwise direction of the arm. A drive mechanism is coupled to the arm shaft. There can be a second arm coupled to the first, and in which a screwed component slides and rotates. A screwed spindle, which cannot slide in the axial direction, rotates in the component.
