Abstract

The process is intended for launching a craft, partic. an inflatable rescue craft, from a structure extending above sea level such as a drilling platform and is of the type in which the manned craft is lowered by means of cables and a winch. The craft is carried on a support which is removably connected with the platform and in that position is prepared and manned, whereupon the support is lowered into the water so that the craft comes free from the support when it floats. Preparation and/or manning the craft may take place during the lowering operation, and there may be more than the craft on the support. Lowering may be by remote control from the support or the craft.
