Cellulose with a lignin content of 1.5% for prodn of high quality paper is produced by removing lignin from waste paper or cardboard, and opt. other vegetable packaging material, esp. material based on wood wool and/or straw, that contains >1.5% lignin. Enables a high quality prod. to be produced from low quality waste matl. Avoids environmental pollution, such as occurs when the waste matl. is burned.
