Abstract

The floor is built up of sections of highly buoyant material (9), and its height is adjusted by ropes (10) attached to it near one end, each of which is removed round a pulley (12) mounted on the bath bottom and then round a further one a further one (13) on the bath edge to a shaft (14) turned in either direction, so that paying out the rope allows the floor to float upwards, and winding it in pulls it downwards. It is held stabe in the adjusted position by two rops fixed to the bottom at points beyond the centre when seen from the bath edge mentioned above. These are reeved over pulleys on the floor edge higher tha the points at which the adjusting ropes are attached, and then under further pulleys mounted at intervals along the lower edge of the floor, finally under a pulley outside the bath and near its edge to a further shaft turning in either direction.
