Abstract

Continuous filter unit with set of pans with horizontal filter surfaces is washed by high energy jets of water and/or strongly turbulent water flows, after discharge of cake, to cause mechanical abrasion and removal of deposits on the pans. Pref. water jets are at >=1kgcm-2esp. 2-15 kgcm-2 pressure. Unit is esp. one with filting pans, arranged around central distributor, used. e.g. for filtration of CaSO4.1/2 H2O slurries.
