Abstract

The basic materials, i.e. farmyard manures, plant residues, sewage etc., are intimately mixed, and directly or after ripening at about 35 degrees C to a pasty product, are forced by a screw press with a cylindrical perforated matrix into a hot-air tunnel after which the dried fertiliser granules, residual solids and vapours are discharged. Some of the vapour is collected via an acid (opt. also an alkaline) bath, which after neutralisation may have fertiliser value.
