Abstract

Durably press ironing cellulosic textiles finished with Zn nitrate and N-methylolacrylamide N2A. Involves impregnating the material (I) e.g. cotton with an aqs soln of N-methylolacrylamide (II) and Zn(NO3)2 (III), then heating the treated (I) at 149-191 (esp. 171-188) degrees C for sufficient time to effect bonding of the cellulose by (II). The ratio (II):(III) used is 2-20 (esp. 5-10)%: 5 (esp. 1-2)%, calcd. on wt. (I).
