Abstract

The card has fibres forming a pattern and embedded in transparent material, and which can be optically scanned from the side. The pattern is integral with a non-woven sheet of the same dimensions as the card itself. The fibres can be joined to each other by the sheet (18). A sheet of material (20) can be provided at one or both sides of the non-woven one, and containing a recess (22) in its side towards the latter. The recess dimensions are larger than those of the portion of the pattern to be scanned, while the sheet itself is transparent at the recess at least.
