Abstract

A power generation device includes electric motor (18) that has a first object, a second object, permanent magnets, and windings (15, 16, 17), electric motor (18) generating an electromotive force in the windings through relative motion between the first object and the second object, and power supply circuit (19) that supplies current to the windings, power supply circuit (19) having a property in which a phase of current with respect to the permanent magnets changes when a magnitude of the electromotive force changes. At occurrence of step? out, power supply circuit (19) changes a frequency of current relative to a frequency of current before the step?out and then causes electric motor (18) to restart. Accordingly, the power generation device which can properly determine a step?out state and resume its original function is provided.
