AN ABSORBENT MEMBER (30) OF THE INVENTION INCLUDES AN ABSORBENT POLYMER (11) HAVING A CENTRIFUGE RETENTION CAPACITY OF 20 G/G OR LESS AS MEASURED IN ACCORDANCE WITH JIS K7223 AND FIBER SHEETS (31) AND (32). THE ABSORBENT POLYMER (11) AND THE FIBER SHEETS (31) AND (32) ARE BONDED TO EACH OTHER VIA AN ANIONIC OR NONIONIC BINDER. THE ANIONIC BINDER IS PREFERABLY AN ANIONIC POLYMER OBTAINED BY POLYMERIZING AN ACID GROUP-CONTAINING UNSATURATED MONOMER. THE NONIONIC BINDER IS PREFERABLY A NONIONIC POLYMER HAVING A CYCLIC GROUP.
