Abstract
El tiempo de ciclo para un proceso de rotomoldeo se mejora a traves del uso de un material de moldeo que comprende una mezcla de al menos dos polietilenos que tienen distribuciones de peso molecular angostas y distribuciones de comonomero homogeneas. De manera alternativa, la temperatura de moldeo se puede reducir para conservar energia y reducir los costos de energia. La mezcla de polietilenos tiene tambien una distribucion de peso molecular angosta de menos de 3 y una densidad de 0.930 a 0.950 g/cc. Las partes rotomoldeadas preparadas a partir de la composicion de mezcla tienen una excelente resistencia al impacto y son tambien resistentes al torcimiento. Un proceso preferido emplea una composicion de mezcla que contiene un componente de mezcla que tiene un peso molecular mas alto y una densidad mas baja que otro componente de mezcla; esta mezcla se puede usar para preparar parte rotomoldeadas con resistencia al torcimiento y resistencia al agrietamiento por tension ambiental (ESCR) mejorada. Un proceso sumamente preferido usa una composicion de mezcla que contiene ademas una cantidad menor (de 0.5 a 10% en peso) de un tercer componente de mezcla de etileno que tiene un peso molecular y densidad mas altos; esta composicion sumamente preferida se puede usar para preparar partes rotomoldeadas que tienen resistencia al torcimiento, muy buena ESCR y modulo (o rigidez) comparativamente alto.
