Abstract

Se proporcionan articulos y procesos mediante los cuales se incorporan particulas de SAP retardantes de flama en resinas sinteticas, en especial resinas termofraguables curables. Las particulas de SAP mas preferiblemente se hidratan con una solucion acuosa retardante de flama. En este aspecto, la solucion retardante de flama puede consistir esencialmente en agua sola, o en una solucion de agua que contenga uno o mas retardantes de flama inorganicos solubles en agua. Cuando se hidratan las particulas de SAP con una solucion retardante de flama inorganica acuosa, las particulas de SAP se pueden secar despues para remover sustancialmente el componente de agua. De esta manera, el retardante de flama inorganico quedara como un residuo seco fisicamente introducido en las particulas de SAP. Como tales, las particulas de SAP sirven como una matriz fisica en la cual se dispersa homogeneamente el retardante de flama inorganico. Luego se pueden mezclar las particulas de SAP con una resina sintetica como tal, o alternativamente se pueden moler en particulas mas finamente divididas que contengan el residuo seco de la solucion retardante de flama inorganica acuosa, y despues se mezclan con una resina sintetica adecuada.
