Abstract

The invention relates to ladder-type means comprising transverse steps, which are used to raise and/or lower people and/or loads. More specifically, the invention relates to a ladder which comprises a mechanism for controlling movable steps or bars, which operates mechanically and which can be fixed or assemblable/disassemblable. The inventive ladder comprises two lateral supports which are equipped with a central groove on one of the faces thereof, in which the lateral projections from the movable steps or bars are inserted. The lateral supports are equipped internally with a mechanism for controlling the raising and/or lowering of the steps and/or bars, said mechanism comprising gears, a spring and a hinged bar which serve as safety means for controlling the sliding of the movable steps or bars. The invention also comprises ladder-stiffening reinforcing elements and stop elements which are inserted into the cavities at the ends of the lateral supports.
