Abstract

La invencion se relaciona con un metodo para preparar dispersiones acuosas, especialmente dispersiones electrodepositables acuosas. La invencion requiere el uso de un polimero (a) que comprende uno o mas grupos dispersables en agua por molecula y uno o mas grupos funcionales (f), y cuando menos un agente de reticulacion (b) que comprende uno o mas grupos funcionales bloqueados (fb) reactivos con el polimero (a) despues del desbloqueo. El agente de reticulacion 8b) tiene una Tg de 40 a 70°C/105 a 158°F y es un solido a 23.9°C/75° F cuando esta a 1005 en peso de solidos. El agente de reticulacion (b) se mezcla en el polimero (a) a una temperatura en o por encima de las temperaturas de fusion de ambos polimero (a) y compuesto (b) pero inferior a la temperatura a la que se desbloquean los grupos funcionales bloqueados (fb). Se anade suficiente agua a la mezcla de fusion resultante (ii) para proporcionar una dispersion acuosa.
