Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a catalizadores novedosos hexacoordinados de metatesis y a metodos para la elaboracion y uso de los mismos. Los catalizadores de la invencion son de la formula (ver formula), en donde: M es rutenio u osmio; X y X1 son el mismo o diferente y son cada uno independientemente un ligando anionico; L, L1 y L2 son el mismo o diferente y son cada uno independientemente un ligando donador de electron neutro; y, R y R1 son cada uno independientemente hidrogeno o un substituyente seleccionado del grupo que consiste de alquilo C1-C20, alquenilo C2-C20, alquinilo C2-C20, arilo, carboxilato C1-C20, alcoxi C1-C20, alqueniloxi C2-C20, alquiniloxi C2-C20, ariloxi, alcoxicarbonilo C2-C20, alquiltio C1-C20 alquilsulfonilo C1-C20, alquilsulfinilo C1-C20, y sililo. Opcionalmente, cada uno del grupo substituyente R o R1 puede ser substituido con una o mas porciones seleccionadas del grupo que consiste de alquilo C1-C10, alcoxi C1-C10, y arilo los cuales nuevamente pueden ser cada uno ademas substituido con uno o mas grupos seleccionados de un halogeno, un alquilo C1-C5, alcoxi C1-C5, y fenilo. Ademas, cualquiera de los ligandos catalizadores pueden ademas incluir uno o mas grupos funcionales. Los ejemplos de grupos funcionales adecuados incluyen, pero no se limitan a: hidroxilo, tiol, tioeter, cetona, aldehido, ester, eter, amina, imina, amida, nitro, acido carboxilico, disulfuro, carbonato, isocianato, carbodiimida, carboalcoxi, carbamato, halogeno, alcohol, acido sulfonico, fosfina, imida, acetal, cetal, boronato, ciano, cianohidrina, hidrazina, enamina, sulfona, sulfuro, y sulfenilo. En ciertas modalidades, al menos uno de L, L2 y L1Æ es un ligando de carbeno N-heterociclico.
