Abstract
Un compuesto organico que tiene al menos un enlace doble C-C se epoxida por medio de peroxido de hidrogeno en presencia de al menos un compuesto con actividad catalitica y al menos un disolvente, en donde una mezcla de productos que contiene a-hidroperoxialcoholes se reduce utilizando al menos un agente reductor. El proceso consiste ventajosamente en al menos los siguientes pasos: (i) la reaccion de un compuesto organico que tenga al menos un doble enlace C-C con peroxido de hidrogeno en presencia de al menos un compuesto con actividad catalitica y al menos un disolvente para obtener una mezcla de productos P1 que contenga a-hidroperoxialcoholes; (ii) separar un epoxido formado en la reaccion del paso (i) y el compuesto organico sin reaccionar que tiene al menos un doble enlace C-C a partir de P1 o P1' para obtener una mezcla de productos P2 o P2', en donde P2 contiene los a-hidroperoxialcoholes formados como subproducto en la reaccion del paso (i), y P2' esta practicamente libre de a-hidroperoxialcoholes; iii) tratar P1 y/o P2 con al menos un agente reductor de modo que los a-hidroperoxialcoholes se conviertan en los glicoles correspondientes para obtener una mezcla de productos P1' o P3.
