Abstract

La presente invencion es un método para estabilizar peroxido de hidrogeno en una solucion acuosa, tal como una suspension de agua de circulacion, que comprende un peroxido, tal como peroxido de hidrogeno. La solucion acuosa puede incluir materia orgánica. El método comprende añadir a la solucion (o suspension) un donador de aldehído, tal como una metilolhidantoína. Los inventores han descubierto que los donadores de aldehído reducen significativamente la descomposicion del peroxido de hidrogeno por catalasa y otras enzimas que descomponen el peroxido, que están presentes frecuentemente en el papel reciclado. Como resultado, es necesario añadir menos peroxido de hidrogeno a la solucion, para blanquear efectivamente la materia orgánica presente en la solucion. Adicionalmente, los donadores de aldehído son seguros de manejar y de costo efectivo. Otra modalidad es un método para blanquear papeles reciclados en una suspension de agua de circulacion que comprende materia orgánica. El método comprende añadir a la suspension peroxido de hidrogeno y un donador de aldehído. Otra modalidad adicional es un método para inhibir la catalasa y/o otras enzimas que descomponen el peroxido, presentes en una solucion acuosa, tal como una suspension de agua de circulacion, que comprende añadir a la solucion acuosa un donador de aldehído.
