Abstract
Fuentes radioactivas, preferentemente simientes radioactivas, para utilizarse en braquiterapia que comprenden un radioisotopo dentro de un recipiente biocompatible sellado, en donde al menos una parte de la superficie exterior del recipiente se ranura, preferentemente con una ranura curva. La superficie exterior ranurada preferentemente se encuentra substancialmente libre de angularidades. Tales ranuras aumentan la ecogenicidad de la fuente utilizando ultrasonido medico a un rango mayor de angulos a la sonda de ultrasonido, aumentado asi la visibilidad de ultrasonido de la fuente. Los radioisotopos preferidos son paladio-103 y yodo-125.
