Abstract
Se describe un metodo para tratar con calor productos de carbono, que comprende proporcionar un par de electrodos (34a, 34b), proporcionar un cuerpo de carbono (32) en contacto electrico entre los electrodos (34a, 34b), e insertar una union (20) entre por lo menos uno de los electrodos (34a, 34b) y el cuerpo de carbono (32). Las capas de los materiales de resistividad electrica baja y alta estan en una relacion alternante y tienen un espesor suficiente de manera que una corriente electrica que pasa a traves de las capas puede generar una cantidad deseada de calor, el cual fluye hacia el cuerpo de carbono (32). El metodo incluye hacer pasar una corriente electrica a traves del electrodo (34a o 34b), la union (20) y el cuerpo de carbono (32) y generar una cantidad deseada de calor en la union (20) con la corriente electrica para calentar una porcion del cuerpo de carbono (32) adyacente a la union (20) a una temperatura de grafitizacion. Preferiblemente, la capa de material de resistividad electrica baja comprende grafito, muy preferiblemente hoja de grafito flexible teniendo una densidad menor que aproximadamente 0.5 g/cc. De preferencia, la capa de material de resistividad electrica alta comprende un material a base de celulosa u hoja de grafito teniendo una densidad mayor que aproximadamente 0.5 g/cc.
