Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a un metodo para formar un bloque de material fibroso modificado por combustion de fuego; el metodo comprende el paso de formar una combinacion de fibras de poliacrilonitrilo no tejidas y oxidadas en una malla; las fibras de poliacrilonitrilo oxidadas son resistentes al fuego y cuando se combinan con fibras no tejidas son relativamente faciles de procesar en un bloque de material fibroso; se puede formar una segunda combinacion de fibras no tejidas en una malla y se puede formar en capas con la malla de fibras de poliacrilonitrilo oxidadas para formar el bloque de material fibroso; las fibras se unen con calor, resina u otro material de union y se comprimen y enfrian; el bloque de material fibroso modificado por combustion de fuego es util como barreras contra el fuego y Ilenadores en ropa de cama, tapiceria y asientos de vehiculo y aeronaves, como aislantes para trajes, dispositivos, paredes y conductos, como barreras para separar sistemas de control de una fuente de calor, y como componentes en ropa de seguridad contra incendios tales como trajes para conductores de carreras y guantes para horno y soldadura.
