Abstract
This invention refers to a sliding chassis with fifth wheel to be used in trailers or semi-trailers of three or four axles; the chassis slides under other fixed chassis for its hooking. The object of this invention is to provide a type of sliding chassis totally different to the ones currently existing on the market, due to a novel construction, whose main characteristic is that it gathers the advantages of various of the existing chassis, which are fixed, but that additionally allows to load an unload merchandise from the back of the trailer, having a better stability, using maximum load capacity and saving important costs in tires due to the use of retractile axles.
Description
SLIDING CHASSIS WITH FIFTH WHEEL FOR USE ON TRAILERS OR SEMI-REELS OF THREE OR FOUR AXES.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
So far there are no sliding chassis for use in trailers or semitrailers of three or four axles, there are fixed chassis formed with fifth rear wheel, in three axes which in detail contain the complete chassis in one piece, making gooseneck to stay at the fifth wheel level between fixed axes; to said fifth wheel the second trailer is engaged or locked. As you may think, this type of fixed chassis also called "Canadian train" has several inconveniences because it does not allow to download or load goods deposited in the trailer or box behind, they are three axes, the device known as fifth wheel clogs maneuvers already mentioned, in addition, does not allow to use the maximum capacity or allowed load.
In order to eliminate some of these and other drawbacks, the development of the present slidable chassis was intended, which is intended to be protected by means of the present application, since it is a device composed of a series of elements that allow better handling of the loading or unloading of the goods, greater stability of the second trailer due to the absence of sudden movements or "chicoteo" to the sides, and to use the maximum capacity allowed for the transport of cargo, in addition, having three retractable axles of the four individual to be used as a vacuum, there is a substantial saving in tires, balatas and diesel; when the vehicle is reversed maneuvers with this innovation behaves as if it were a single box, which makes this operation more efficient, another advantage is the speed to make the maneuver to unhook and hook as if you were parking a box in front of another.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The characteristic details of this novel sliding frame are clearly shown in the following description and in the eight accompanying drawings, as well as an illustration thereof and following the same reference signs to indicate the parts and figures shown.
Figure 1 is a side perspective of the three-axle trailer-mounted chassis, outside the fixed chassis. Figure 2 is a side perspective of the three-axle trailer-mounted chassis, within the fixed chassis. Figure 3 is a top view of the slidable chassis. Figure 4 is a side perspective view of the four-axle, skid-mounted chassis, outside the fixed chassis. Figure 5 is a side perspective view of the four-axle sliding chassis within the fixed chassis. Figure 6 is a front perspective view of the sliding frame.
With reference to said figures and in order that the invention can be seen the sliding chassis (2) is coupled to a fixed chassis (1) which is formed by various suitable materials such as steel, aluminum, among others, which joins the tractor by means of a fifth wheel that allows to stretch or pull the trailer, that is, turn, platforms, cages, tanks, in short, any type of trailer; the chassis can be short or long and its structure is of the normal ones that are used in the transport of merchandise normally conformed of two beams type i, armed with bridges 5 and loaders.
In the lower part of the chassis (1) is located the sliding chassis (2) which is coupled to the chassis (1) by means of four rollers (3) two on each side of the sliding chassis (2) fastened at higher angles ( 4) Metal that
- | Q has the sliding chassis (2) that allow the sliding chassis (2) to be always guided, to take its position before the fixed chassis (1), avoiding with this any type of movement that tends to expel the sliding chassis
(2).
15 The sliding frame (2) is secured by four bolts or locks (5), two on each side of the sliding frame (2) which are pneumatically or manually operated, so that sills or iron arms (6) that are attached to the bolts or latches (5) can open or close, and allow sliding of the sliding chassis (2). The arms (6) are 0 attached to a steel tube (7) which is fixed to the bridges or loaders of the sliding chassis (2) by means of carriages (8) that go through the tube, said arms (6) move through a pneumatic piston (9) or can be manual, on opening "bolts" or locks (5) are "unlocked" to carry out the sliding of the chassis (2); the action is made from the vehicle cabin.
It should be noted that the fixed chassis (1) has two positions, the first when it is outside the sliding chassis to hook the other box there hook to four holes (10) the four bolts (5) to fix the suspension; the second, when inside, the cabin is activated so that the bolts are contracted and the suspension of the sliding chassis is braked.
In order that there is a better slide of the sliding chassis (2) it is installed in any of the two chassis (1) and (2), properly fastened by screws, a pressed rubber or also called polygard or nilamid (11) avoiding with This is due to the wear of the surfaces of the two chassis (1) and (2) that are coupled, otherwise iron would be friction with iron. Another innovative element of the sliding chassis (2) and complementing the operation is that attached to the sliding chassis (2) by means of suspensions (12) are the axes (13, 14, 15 and 16) at the ends of which the rims are located (17) which, that is, the axes (13, 15 and 16) are retractable which means that they can be used independently depending on the weight that is loaded, that is, when the boxes transit empty (no load) the second one is used axis (14), for 15 tons per box the first (13) and second axis (15) are used, for 23 tons per box the first (13), second (15) and third (16) y axis are used for 30 tons per box the four axes (13, 14, 15, 16).
In the sliding frame (2) is located in the upper part the device called fifth wheel (18) which is the one that engages the second semiremotque.
The fourth shaft (16) is driven from the cab by means of a pneumatic device to raise or lower the axle in the city or to make closed maneuvers and to avoid tire wear.
It should be noted that when the trailer or semitrailer has three axes we refer to the axes 13, 14 and 15, that is, when the boxes transit empty (no load) continues to use the second axis (14) and the other two (13 and 15) are the ones that stand up (retractable).
The sliding chassis (2) in question works in the following way: The axles 13, 14, 15 and 16 of the chassis (2) are driven from the cab of the truck to coil or immobilize the movement of the rims, subsequently a switch is operated pneumatic inside the cabin that sends air to a pneumatic piston (9) to open or close the bolts or locks (5) which means that when open, the sliding chassis (2) is free to slide and stay inside the chassis fixed (1), then the pneumatic switch is activated so that the bolts or safety locks (5) run and that the sliding chassis (2) is properly secured.
Claims (2)
- Having sufficiently described my invention, I consider as a novelty and therefore claim of my exclusive property, what is contained in the following clauses: 1.- Sliding chassis with fifth wheel for use in trailers or semi-trailers of three or four axles that is shaped by a chassis that attaches four rollers properly attached to the sliding chassis, by upper angles, bolts or safety locks that when activated allow the sliding or securing of the chassis, characterized in that the sliding chassis when the pneumatic mechanism is operated slides down inwards or towards outside the fixed chassis, in addition because the sliding chassis has a fifth wheel that allows the coupling of the second trailer.
- 2. - Sliding chassis with fifth wheel for use in trailers or semi-trailers of three or four axes, characterized because as claimed in the previous clause the chassis has three retractable axles attached by suspensions that allow a better operation and a substantial savings in spare parts (tires, balatas).
