Description

This application describes an apparatus as described and claimed in a related application having a Serial No. (Agent's file 14040), filed in the name of Armen Danielian and with a title TOY HAVING JUMPING ACTION, granted to the assignee of the present application and herein incorporated by reference. Field of the Invention This invention relates generally to dolls and packaging of similar toy products and particularly to packaging intended to provide a product demonstration or "prove me" feature. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The rapid and virtually unlimited development of toy products within the market, in a certain proportion, has been accelerated by a similar dramatic rate of development in product packaging and product packaging techniques. In this way, as toys products have become increasingly entertaining, fun, colorful, complex and sophisticated, packaging for toy products has strived to provide a more interesting, entertaining and attractive packaging. In addition to the basic function of packaging the toy product that provides convenient protection and shipping as well as product handling containers for the products, those who practice the technique of packing toys devote great effort in making the packaging for the toy products, colorful interesting, it attracts tension and entertaining. One of the most significant improvements that is provided by those who practice the techniques of packing toys, can be described generally as the "prove me" characteristic packing. This type of packaging acquires its name from the ability to exhibit and support the product in a way that allows and encourages a potential buyer to test the product in a limited sense without removing it from the packaging. In this way, the purpose of the "prove me" packaging is to provide an environment where the product can be tested or demonstrated to some extent without compromising the integrity of the packaging protection for the product. For example, in the patent of the U.S.A. No. 5,102,806 granted to Mickelberg establishing an ANIMATED TOY IN PACKAGE and the US patent. No. 5,289,916 also granted to Mickelberg and also titled "ANIMATED TOY IN PACKAGE" which is a continuation-in-part of the US patent. No. 5,102,806, both establish a package for housing an animated toy having articulated movable parts. A package opening allows a person to operate a switch that activates the toy. When the toy is activated, moving parts can be seen through openings in the package or alternatively through transparent sections in the package. In addition, lamps can be activated and flashed and an enunciator can be used to emit sounds, which are seen and heard by the person while the animated toy is inside the package. The patent of the U.S.A. No. 4,925,025 issued to Anten et al., Establishes a POINT OF PURCHASE DISPLAY for a packaged toy that has an economical, temporary battery power supply, replaceable by conventional batteries for long-term use. The point-of-sale display allows activation of the toy while it remains in the package. Two circuits can be wired in parallel so that the battery-powered toy can be operated from the battery power supply or can be disconnected when a permanent supply is placed on the toy.
The patent of the U.S.A. No. 5,411,138 issued to Klawiter establishes a PACKAGING FOR TOY that provides a packing container having two or more sides with transparent windows in a generally rectangular box configuration. Inside the box, a toy product such as a toy vehicle is held by a folded flap formed on the underside of the package. The patent of the U.S.A. No. 3,576,085 issued to Nelson, establishes a PACKAGE TOY, which provides a package for retaining a functional toy, also as a toy comprising a structure with a central depression to hold the toy set and surrounding walls, so such that the appearance of human or animal bodies is provided. The patent of the U.S.A. No. 3,406,816 issued to Green et al. Establishes a DISPLAY CONTAINER (A CONTAINER FOR EXHIBIT), which has a generally rectangular pedestal base within which a toy such as a doll is supported. A four-sided enclosure mates on the base and includes three transparent sides and one opaque side. An opaque cover is attached to the top of the enclosure with four sides. The patent of the U.S.A. No. 4,234,079 granted to Otake establishes PACKAGING FOR TOY ARTICLES AND THE LIKE (PACKAGING FOR ARTICLES ^ TOY AND LIKEN) that has a package designed to contain and exhibit toy items that includes a "member" of packaging that has an enclosure where There is a portion of the packaging member that is transparent to allow the toy items to be seen, an exhibit having a plurality of illustrations or pictures illustrating the toy items is operatively connected to the toy article. packaging member While the packaging devices for toy products described above, in a certain proportion have improved the technique of packaging toys and in some instances have enjoyed commercial success, there remains a continuing need in the art for a packaging of improved, interesting and entertaining toy, more and more COMPENDIUM OF THE INVENTION According to this, an obj The general purpose of the present invention is to provide an improved display package for a doll or similar product. A more particular objective of the present invention is to provide an improved display package for a doll or similar product, which facilitates the doll demonstration or the action characteristic of the similar toy product.
According to the present invention, there is provided a doll having a jumping action, a package for displaying the doll comprising: an enclosure having a rear portion, a front portion, a pair of side portions extending therebetween, the front portion and the side portions are shorter than the back portion and a bottom portion, a trampoline hinged to the bottom and extending forward and upward from the bottom, a hinged flap that is hingedly held in the portion back on the trampoline, a restriction for the neck attached to the hinged flap to encircle and restrict the doll's neck, and a pair of foot restraints, attached to the trampoline to encircle and restrain a doll's feet against the trampoline, the trampoline and the hinged flap undergo pivotal movement in response to the jumping action of a doll attached to the trampoline on its feet and by the flap hinged on his neck. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The characteristics of the present invention that are considered novel, are established particularly in the appended claims. The invention, together with additional objects and advantages thereof, can be better understood by reference to the following description which is taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and wherein: Figure 1 establishes a perspective view of a package for doll display constructed in accordance with the present invention; and Figure 2 establishes a front view of the doll display package of Figure 1 that is taken on the lines of section 2-2 that has an exemplary doll therein supported. DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED MODALITY Figure 1 establishes a perspective view of an exhibition package constructed in accordance with the present invention and with general reference to the number 10. While different materials may be used to manufacture an exhibition package 10, in its Preferred manufacture, a cardboard or convenient rigid flake board material is employed. However, it may be convenient in certain packing environments to employ other planar sheet material such as a plastic or composite material as required. The essential feature of the material used to manufacture the display package 10 is the ability of the material to provide relatively rigid planar elements that can be formed in the package as illustrated. Accordingly, an exhibit pack 10 includes a generally vertii lfeil rear portion extending upward from a planar bottom 14. A pair of side surfaces 12 and 13 define edges at respective angles 40 and 41. Sides 12 and 13 furthermore they are joined to a front portion 15. The combination of the rear part 11, the bottom 14, the sides 12 and 13 together with the front 15 form a complete rigid self-supporting structure having sufficient strength to effect the containment of the package shown in FIG. Figure 2. Further, according to the present invention, the display package 10 further includes a generally planar base 16 which extends rearwardly from the front 15 to meet the rear 11. The base 16 defines a large opening 17 and in its preferred form, it is generally parallel to the bottom 14 as best seen in Figure 2. Additionally, according to the present invention, the display package 10 includes a lower liner 19 superimposed on bottom 14 and defining an elongated slot 18. In the manner described below in Figure 2 in greater detail, a trampoline 20 comprises a generally planar member extending through slot 18 and disposed upwards to the inclined base 16, it is hingedly held between the bottom 14 and the bottom liner 19. The trampoline 20 defines a pair of openings 21 and 22 through which a foot restraint 23 extends. A second pair of openings 24 and 25 are also formed on the trampoline 20 and receive and hold a second restriction for feet 26. In further accordance with the present invention, the back part 11 is formed of a pair of superposed layers 55 and 56. An elongated slot 30 is formed in the layer 55 and receives a hinged flap 31. The structure of the hinged letter 31 is set forth in Figure 2 below. in more detail However, it is sufficient to note here that the hinged flap 31 includes an upper layer 35 and a lower layer 36 which extend through the slot 30 and are joined in a fold 33. A space 34 exists between the layers 35 and 36 and a restriction of neck 32 extends through. The neck restriction 32 and the foot restraints 23 and 26 can be formed from a variety of elongate restraining materials such as plastic-coated ties or wires, elastic loops or stretched stretches, or elongated portions of material such as rope or thread, as desired. The essential function of the constraints 23, 26 and 32 is to provide a convenient surrounding material that secures the proximal portion of the toy doll to the hinged trampoline or fin, as illustrated in Figure 2.
In operation, the display package 10 receives a doll in the manner set forth in Figure 2, such that the doll's feet are attached to the trampoline 20 by the foot restrictions 23 and 26 allowing the doll to extend vertically therefrom. . In addition, the display package 10 secures the doll by surrounding the doll's neck in the manner shown in Figure 2, using the restriction of the neck 32. As mentioned, the preferred manufacture of the neck restriction 32 and foot restraints 23 and 26 is provided by flexible wire ties comprising portions of metal wire circumscribed or encoded with a suitable flexible plastic material. The resulting tie has been found convenient to pack, allowing easy tying with the restraints to tightly retain the doll within package 10. It will be apparent to those with skill in the specialty that other types of dolls beyond the animal character shown in FIG. Figure 2, can be used-without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention. In this way, for example, a human-like figure or action figure can be received within the display package 10 and restricted using the neck restriction and foot restrictions 23 and 26. Advantage and particular objective in the display package 10 is the packaging where the resilient action of the trampoline ^) and the pivotal action of the hinged fin 31 described below cooperate to facilitate the demonstration of a toy or doll figure, which is subjected to a vertical jump movement or sequences of movements . Figure 2 establishes a sectional view of a display package 10 that is taken over the lines of section 2-2 in Figure 1. For purposes of illustration, Figure 2 further shows a toy Figure generally referred to by the number 60. held within the display package 10 in the form of anticipated containment. As mentioned above, various Figures can be secured within the exhibition package 10 and benefit from its novel aspects. However, it has been found particularly advantageous to use a doll having a jumping or bouncing action such as the doll set forth in the related patent application described above, which is incorporated herein by reference. In this manner for purposes of illustration, the toy figure 60 provides a doll that has a general and fantastic appearance of an animal such as a tiger. The toy figure 60 in this manner includes a torso 61 that supports a pair of arms 59 and 62 and a pair of legs 64 and 68. The legs 64 and 68 of the toy figure 60 end in feet 65 and 69, respectively. A tail 63 extends back and down the torso 61. A head 66 is attached to the torso 61 by a neck portion 67. In accordance with the present invention, the display package 10 receives the toy figure 60 and includes a back 11 formed by overlapping layers 55 and 56, a bottom 14 having a superimposed bottom liner 19 and a front 15. The pack 10 further includes sides 12 and 13 (side 12 is seen in Figure 1). As described above, the display package 10 further includes a base 16 defining an opening 17 that extends between the back 11 and the front 15. A trampoline 20 formed of a rigid chipboard material similar to that used to form the remainder of the display package 10, includes an upper layer 43 and a lower layer 44 bent to form a trampoline extending through the slot 18. The upper layer 43 passes through the slot 18 and forms a flap 46, which is fastened to the bottom 14 and the lower liner 19 using adhesive connection or the like. Similarly, the layer 44 passes through the slot 18 and forms a forwardly extending flap 45 also captive between the bottom 14 and the bottom liner 19. The flap 45 can also be connected using conventional adhesive connection. In alternate form, the fins 45 and 46 can be sufficiently captive between the bottom liner 19 and the bottom 14 to avoid the need for adhesive connection. The upper layer 43 and the lower layer 44 are folded through the slot 18 to form a hinge 42 with respect to which the trampoline 20 is resiliently pivoted. In this way, the trampoline is able to pivot with respect to the hinge 42, as it is indicated by the arrows 51 and 52. The display package further includes a hinged flap 31 formed of an upper layer 35 and a lower layer 36 that forms a fold 33 receiving a neck restriction 32. The upper layer 35 and the bottom layer 36 of the hinged flap 31 pass through the slot 30 of the layer 55 and extend between the layers 55 and 56, such that the end portion in the layer 35 extends upwardly between the layers 55 and 56, while the portion of the layer 36 extends down between the layers 55 and 56. As a result, the layers 35 and 36 form a bent hinge 37 within the slot 30. The hinge 37 allows the hinged flap 31 to pivot at the addresses indicated by the arrows 53 and 54. In operation, the toy figure 60 is held inside the package 10 by placing the toy figure 60 between the sides 12 and 13 (the first one seen in Figure 1) and extending the legs 64 and 68 downwards through the | ^^ j ^^ H¡ | k opening 17 until feet 65 and 69 are received on trampoline 20. Subsequently, restraints 23 and 26 are fastened to feet 65 and 69, capturing the feet of the toy figure 60 against the trampoline 20. The fastening of the toy figure 60 is completed by surrounding the neck portion 67 with the neck restriction 32, such that the neck 67 is secured to the fold 33 of the hinged flap 31. At this point , the toy figure 60 is completely restricted within the display package 10. As set forth in the above-identified related patent application, the toy Figure 60 in its preferred form allows a bounce or jump action where the legs 64 and 68 repeatedly point or stretch upward in the torso 61 against a spring branch and release allowing the legs 64 and 68 to spring downward by releasing the toy figure 60 in a rebound action. According to an important aspect of the present invention, the toy figure 60 is able to demonstrate this rebound animation while remaining restricted within the display package 10. In this manner, with the on / off switch 70 of the figure of toy 60 accessible to the user when the toy figure 60 is restricted within the package 10, the user is able to reach the on / off switch 70 and turn on the toy figure 60 causing it to jump. During this jumping action, the movement of the legs 64 and 68 upwards with respect to the torso 61 and the downward fast impulse that provides the rebounding action of the toy figure 60 is allowed by the pivotal resilient movements of the trampoline and the fin. hinged 31. In this way, as the toy figure 60 repeatedly moves in the vertical directions indicated by the arrow 50, the trampoline 20 is pivoted in the directions indicated by the arrows 51 and 52 and the hinged flap 31 is pivoted in the directions indicated by the arrows 53 and 54. As a result, the bounce and jump action of the toy figure 60 is observable while the toy figure remains restricted within the package 10. At any time, the user can finish the demonstration of the toy figure 60 by simply reaching the switch 70 and passing it to the off position. The resilience of the trampoline 20 and the hinged flap 31 with respect to its respective hinges 42 and 37, tends to return the toy figure 60 to the position shown in Figure 2, when the toy figure 60 was inoperative. What has been shown is a doll display package that facilitates the demonstration of doll action, which has a jump or bounce activity while keeping the doll within the integrity of the package. The shown display packaging is easily manufactured from conventional cardboard, paperboard or flake board or similar conventional packaging materials. While particular embodiments of the invention have been shown and described, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that changes and modifications can be practiced without departing from the invention in its broader aspects. Therefore, the aim of the appended claims is to cover all these changes and modifications that fall within the real spirit and scope of the invention.
