Description
PACKING CONTAINER FOR ADHERABLE LENSES THAT ALLOWS TO TEST THE LENSES WITHOUT REMOVING THEM FROM THE CONTAINER
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of Invention The packaging containers for adhesive lenses that are suitable for displaying the lenses at the point of sale and which allow a potential buyer to test the lenses without removing them from the container in which they are placed. These packing containers make it difficult to remove or steal the lenses and can be used as a convenient portable or storage case.
PRIOR ART No prior art is known in relation to packaging containers for adhesive lenses, much less the type that allows a potential user to test the adhesive lenses, without being removed from the packaging container. Recently, the adhesive lenses have achieved a great acceptance by the consumer and a potential market has developed from aliphatic plastic materials, so that the aliphatic thermoplastic polyurethane lenses that adhere by pressure and the lenses that incorporate them , they are already purchased commercially or will soon be for sale. These lenses are of optical clarity and can adhere to a base lens due to their inherent or autogenous adhesive properties, for example, to typical sun lenses or other flat type lenses, which by themselves do not provide correction but may have curvatures normal integrated. That is, the adherence between
"*" sun glasses or other non-corrective lenses and adhesive lenses are made by adhering the molecular surface between the bondable lenses and the inner surface of the sun lenses or other curved lenses, but in any case non-corrective lenses to those who adhere. Some of these adhesive lenses are already planned to be available to the market in a short time under the brand "SUN-SIGHTS". These lenses can be extremely simple or be more complex, but the most common types of those of the type of magnification or reading, which can for example have an integrated graduation of + 1.0d, up to + 4.0d, the "d" means the diopters, and approximately + 2.5d is a normal and generally satisfactory graduation that is incorporated in reading lenses, by joining these lenses to the inner surface of sunglasses or other lenses without graduation, properly curved. Corrective lenses, for example, for the correction of myopia or short sight, can also be found and, these lenses for myopia or short sight correction have, representatively a correction of
-2.00 diopters. Bifocal lenses can also be provided and generally comprise an integrated reading lens section attached to the lower portion of the base lenses, plus an additional adherable lens section integrated in the upper portion thereof, for example an adhesive lens for correction of myopia of -1 diopters as a second graduated lens section, while the upper portion of the lens for the sun or other base lenses remains uncorrected for proper distance vision. More complex lenses are also possible in which the reading increase or correction is representatively +3.75 diopters, a second intermediate or average correction of +2.37 diopters and an upper section of the lenses provides a distance or long range correction of +1 diopter. In addition, as opposed to the integral lenses that are attached to the base lenses and separately, inherent adhesion by the surface molecular adhesion can also be provided with writable lenses for reading or corrective lenses for the sun or for glasses without properly curved lenses. In any case, the adhesive lenses are currently known and are in the market or soon will be in the market, so thatNow, some packaging containers are useful, useful for their display at the point of purchase, and which can possibly be used subsequently for their storage or as a portable case. The problem is challenging in view of the fact that the adhesive lenses have not been previously marketed, at least not on an important commercial scale, so that not only the adequate display of the adhesive lenses is desirable, but also some means for that potential buyers will test those lenses without removing the lenses from the packaging container, and also in a way that makes the adhesive lenses unlikely to be stolen or removed from it; this is achieved by the present ition. Suitable adhesive lenses, made of aliphatic thermoplastic polyurethanes with a polyester and polyether base, are known and particularly suitable. These are disclosed in greater detail, to the extent that the above description is not fully adequate by its very nature, in my United States Patent Application No. 08 / 163,678 filed on December 7, 1993, the disclosure of the which is incorporated here as a reference.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION An object of the invention is to provide a packaging container for adhesive lenses. Another object is to provide packaging containers wherein the adhesive lenses, when placed within it, are visible for inspection by a potential buyer. A further object is to provide a packaging container that allows a potential buyer to test the adhesive lenses to determine their effectiveness and suitability from the prospective buyer's point of view, without removing the adhesive lenses from the packaging container in which they are displayed. Still another object of the invention is to provide this packaging container for adhesive lenses, wherein the adhesive lenses can be exhibited on a transparent or non-corrective surface or section of the packaging container, which has a curvature simulating that of the lenses for the sun or other non-corrective lenses of curved lenses, and where the container has a flat and transparent back panel or section that allows a prospective buyer to see through the packaging container and test the adhesive lenses packed in this , in the same way as if they were adhered to the surface of sun lenses or other type of non-graduated and curved lenses, for example a pair of lenses for the sun of the potential buyer himself. Other additional objects will become apparent below and still further objects of the invention will occur to those experienced in this field to which the invention pertains.

Figure 7 is an isometric view of the finished product after folding over the advertising card of Figures 5 and 6, to provide a two-sheet advertising card that incorporates the structure of the packaging container of Figure 1, safely with it. Figure 8 is a cross-section of the packaging container finished in the embodiment of Figure 7 taken along line 8-8 of Figure 7. Figure 9 is an isometric view of another embodiment of the packaging container of the invention, in the form of a relatively thin flat box, and Figure 10 is a cross-section of the portion of the embodiment of Figure 9, taken along the. line 10-10 of Figure 9.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The construction materials of the packaging containers of the present invention can be or can comprise any type of suitable plastic that allows the preferably optical and clear transparency in those areas of the packaging container where transparency is required, as will be indicated in more detail below. These suitable transparent plastics can be of any type already known in the art, for example polyethylene, polypropylene, acrylics and copolymers of different types, the only requirement is that the plastic provide transparency in the required areas and have sufficient rigidity so that the container of Packaging can withstand the normal and typical handling of the devices and display containers at the point of sale, without substantial damage and without rupture, without losing or leaving the adhesive lenses of their position inside the packaging container, from where they are adhered on an internal surface that simulates or approaches the curvature of the glasses typical of sun glasses or other types of non-corrective glasses. For this purpose, a plastic copolymer of butadiene and styrene known as "K-resin" ™, from Phillips Petroleum, is preferred, although crystal clarity polystyrenes such as that available from Huntsman, Caliber ™ and Acrylite ™, made of compounds can also be used. molded plastics obtained from Cyro Industries, with equal ease or practically equal, as long as the particular plastic works so that it has a sufficient impact resistance, enough transparency and clarity. The advertising card referred to below that forms part of the present invention, in some of its modalities can be a sheet material made of plastic or cardboard or paperboard of any suitable type, which is commonly used in the art. area audio and video tapes, compact discs and other similar display packaging at the point of sale, according to normal practices in the exhibition and advertising technique, and when present will normally be printed with advertising or product identification and Explanatory text and data or similar. Making reference now to the drawings and to the figures of these, with greater particularity, there is generally shown a packaging container of the invention, in Figures 1 and 3 to 10. The difference between Figures 1 and 3 is that the bondable lenses of Figure 1 are reading-type lenses 25R while those of Figure 3 are adhesive lenses that provide short-sight or near-sighted correction and are designated 25NS. In the remainder, the structures of the packaging containers of Figures 1 and 3 are the same, as are their respective cross sections shown in Figures 2 and 4. From Figures 1 and 3, the adhesive lenses 25R or 25NS can be detected immediately, linked in each case, by its inherent or inherent adhesive properties, to the rear surface 19 of a front panel 16 of the container 10, having side walls at 20 and a front panel tab or extension 22, provided with an elongated slot or opening 24. The box-like structure of the embodiments of Figures 1 and 3 will be better understood from the cross-sectional views of Figures 2 and 4, in which it is noted that the container comprises two (2) sections, a front section 12 and a rear section 14. The front section 12 comprises a front panel 16 and a rear section 14 comprising a back panel 18 straight or flat. The rear section 14 also comprises a top wall 28 and a bottom wall 38 as well as a top wall extension 29, the top wall extension 29 has a common opening 24 with a front panel extension 22. In addition to the front panel extension 22, the front panel 16 has an upper flange 26 and a lower flange 36, for frictional pressure fit engagement with the upper wall 28 and the lower wall
38 of the rear section 14. Alternatively, the front section 12 may be articulated at the point 39 with the lower wall 38 of the rear section 14, in which case the upper flange 26 provides frictional engagement with the upper wall 28 to complete the box-like structure or enclosure of the container 10 of the invention, as shown in Figures 1 and 4, in the form of a portable eyeglass case. The front panel 16 has an adhesive lens 25R or 25NS, when it is packaged in the container 10, adhered to the rear or inner curved surface 19 thereof, the curved surface of the front panel 16 has no corrective gradation without the presence of the adhesive lenses , but has a curvature that approximates the curvature of a pair of glasses of sun glasses or other types of non-corrective glasses. It may therefore comprise an anterior surface 17 having a curvature that approximates that of an arc of a circle having a radius of about 3,815 inches and a back surface 19 having a curvature that approximates that of an arch of a circle having a radius of about 3,715 inches, these surfaces simulate the curvatures of the glasses of sun glasses or other non-prescription glasses, and in this way provide the packaging container with a transparent area through which it can observed, and that has no graduation, without the presence of the adhesive lenses, since the rear panel 18 although it is also transparent with optical clarity, is a flat panel, ie straight, which has no graduation. Of course, the curvatures of sunglasses can vary widely, depending on whether they are typical sun glasses or whether they are ski goggles or ski goggles, or any other available number of types, but regardless of the curvature of the glasses. same, the self-adhesive lenses can be applied, and will adhere, to the internal surface thereof, so that the curvature or degree of curvature of the front panel 16 does not affect the operability of the present invention. As will be readily seen from Figures 1 and 3, the adhesive lenses 25R or 25NS adhere to the internal surface of the front panel 16 in each case, by inherent or autogenous or static adhesion and, as will be seen below, the container of Packaging 10 can also easily serve as a convenient storage or portable case for the consumer, once the adhesive lenses have been purchased. In addition, the customer only has to take the recipient
and place the nose recess of the package 10 that simulates a spectacle case, on the bridge of its nose for the evaluation of the product and to determine its suitability from the point of view of the possible user or purchaser. From Figure 5 there is an identification or advertising card made of cardboard, or paperboard or plastic, shown at point 40, having a lower panel 42 and an upper panel 44, separated by a weakened line 46 which can be a crease line or notches and which has at the lower end of the lower panel 42 tabs 48 that extend outwards. As shown in Figure 6, the attachment of the packaging container 10 of the invention to the advertising card 40 is easily accomplished by inserting the tabs 48 through the openings 24 in the extension or tab 22, and then folding the tabs 42 backward to an area with adhesive or glue 49, provided in the adjacent section of the upper surface of the lower panel 42. The upper panel 44 is then oscillated along the weakened line 46 towards a juxtaposition superimposed on the top of the lower panel 42, whereby a double-sheet advertising card 40 is obtained, having a lower panel 42 and an upper panel 44, the upper panel 44 is secured by means of adhesive 49 to the upper surface of the lower panel 42 and securely encloses the tabs 48 between the upper and lower panels 44 and 42Now leaving the container packing 10 of the bondable lenses securely connected to the card finished advertising 40 manner so that the sticky lenses 25R can no longer be removed from the packaging without destroying the container packing 10 and / or the card ad 40 which is securely connected to this, as shown in cross section in Figure 8 may also be used or additionally clamps or similar fastener can be used to secure the tabs 48 between the panels 44 and 42 and panels each. Figure 9 shows another embodiment of the invention designated with the number 60, where the flat box-like packaging container is seen in two sections, upper and lower, both made of plastic, section 60A which may or may not be transparent, be painted or colored or be transparent with an identification card or advertising placed below it. However, the lower portion 60T, has to be transparent plastic and incorporates a front panel 16 having approximately the same curvatures on the rear and front surfaces 19 and 17, as set forth with respect to the previous embodiments of Figures 1- 4 at the point 10. The plastic container 60 therefore comprises segments of lower and upper plastic 62 and 64, which have flanges for a press fit that can be additionally secured by adhesive, and the lower portion of which, 60T, must to be of flat transparent plastic, both for the curved front panel 16 and for its transparent rear panel 18, that is to say the one that is straight, just as shown in Figures 2 and 4, and is seen in Figure 10. The adhesive lenses 25R are shown stuck in place on the inside or back surface 19 of the curved front panel 16, and an optional nose recess for observing through the transparent portion 60T of the recipient e 60 is shown in dotted lines at point 69. A cross-sectional view of this embodiment of the invention is shown in Figure 10.
OPERATION In operation, the user, consumer, customer or potential buyer, etc., simply takes the packaging container of the invention and places it before their eyes, using the nose opening shown in the modalities in which it is provided, and see through the transparent and clear packaging and through the adhesive lenses, adhering to the back or inner surface of the front panel of the case, when the adhesive lenses are placed therein. When applying the container, which houses the adhesive lenses in a transparent portion of it and in which it can be seen through it, addressing any object or a small impression within the line of sight, and by varying the distance of the packaging container therefrom, the potential purchaser can test and determine for himself the efficiency of the adhesive lenses, as they are packaged inside the packaging container of the invention, and thus can determine the suitability of the adhesive lenses for the particular use and correction intended and desired by the potential buyer. After the purchase, the adhesive lenses can only be removed by destroying the attached advertising card or the packaging container itself, except when it is intended to be reused or continuously used as a storage container or carrying case, providing removable securing means, such as adhesive, tape, fasteners or the like, all of which is known in this field. It is therefore noted that the present invention has provided a novel and unique packaging container for adhesive lenses that adhere to the surface of non-graduated lenses, for example sun lenses and the like, thanks to their inherent or self-adhesive properties; and in addition, this packaging container is not only suitable as an exhibition container at the point of sale but also allows a customer prospectus to examine the product in terms of its effectiveness and suitability from the perspective of the prospectus itself. client, without removing the adhesive lenses from the container in which they are packaged, and also eliminating or decreasing the possibility of theft of the adhesive lenses when they are on display in the packaging container of the invention, and when desired, can also used as a storage medium or portable case suitable for the adhesive lenses, all of the above has been provided by the present invention, thereby fulfilling all the objectives of the present invention.
It will be understood that the present invention is not limited to the precise details of operation mentioned or to the compounds, compositions, methods, procedures or exact modalities that are shown and described, as other variations and equivalents will be apparent to those skilled in the art. the invention is not limited to them, but only limited to the scope that is legally agreed by the appended claims.
