Abstract

En la presente invencion se describe un proceso para preparar un alquilenglicol o glicol de alquileno haciendo reaccionar un oxido de alquileno con agua, en presencia de un catalizador que incluye una sal de amonio de un organopolisiloxano polimérico que tiene una estructura o esqueleto similar al del sílice y que incluye unidades, Y y x son como se especifica en la reivindicacion 1. Se prefieren los catalizadores caracterizados porque el anion Y se selecciona de un grupo de carboxilatos que tienen de 1 a 20 átomos de carbono, hidrogenocarbonato, sulfito de hidrogeno, fosfato de hidrogeno y metalato. Esos catalizadores muestran una estabilidad mejorada en lo que respecta a la selectividad.
