Abstract
Un catalizador de forma selectiva comprende un material cristalino poroso sintético, que tiene la estructura de ZSM-5 y una composicion que involucra la relacion molar: X2O3: (n)YO2, en donde X es un elemento trivalente, tal como aluminio, boro, hierro y/o galio, preferiblemente aluminio; Y es un elemento tetravalente tal como silicio y/o germanio, preferiblemente silicio; y n es mayor que aproximadamente 12, y en donde los cristales tiene una dimension mayor de al menos alrededor de 0.5 micrones y una relacion de superficie de YO2/X2O3 del cristal. Los cristales tienen una cubierta de superficie de difusion modificante de un material refractario tal como sílice o coque. El catalizador es empleado en una amplia variedad de procesos de conversion de hidrocarburo selectivo, particularmente en la desproporcion selectiva del tolueno a para-xileno.
