Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a un dispositivo optico conmutable, caracterizado porque comprende: una capa opticamente activa transparente, teniendo una primera y una segunda superficies principales; un primer polarizador reflector dispuesto en la primera superficie principal de la capa opticamente activa; un segundo polarizador reflector dispuesto en la segunda superficie prncipal de la capaopticamente activa; y los medios para conmutar al panel entre un estado reflector y un estado transmisor, en donde el primer y el segundo polarizadores reflectores comprenden cada uno a un grupo multicapa de pares de capas de material adyacente, cada uno de los pares de capas, exhibiendo una diferencia de índice de refraccion entre las capas adyacentes en una primera direccion en el plano de polarizador, y exhibiendo esencialmente ninguna diferencia de índice de refraccion entre las capas adyacentes en una segunda direccion en el plano del polarizador y ortogonal a la primera direccion.
