Abstract

Un tubo optico de luz mejorado, para usarse en la iluminacion lateral, se forma de una combinacion de nucleo/revestimiento, opcionalmente con una camisa transparente, donde el nucleo es preferiblemente un polímero acrílico curado y el revestimiento es preferiblemente un polímero de fluorocarburo que contiene un nivel muy bajo de partículas finas, las cuales dispersan la luz uniformemente por la trayectoria del tubo. Asimismo se puede obtener un aumento de la luz con bajos niveles de fibras de vidrio o microesferas de vidrio también presentes en el revestimiento. Las fibras de vidrio cortadas solas, a bajos niveles del revestimiento, con utiles para aplicaciones de la iluminacion posterior. Este tubo de luz, así formado, es util en señales, perfiles bajo el agua, iluminacion de corredores en teatros y usos similares.
