Abstract

En un sistema de conmutacion de banda amplia para la conmutacion de celdas asíncronamente de datos, un controlador de ancho de banda dinámico (DBC) controla la aplicacion de celdas de datos a una puerta de entrada del sistema, las celdas de datos son suministradas por un numero de sistema de terminacion que transmite. Cuando un sistema de terminacion empieza a transmitir la celda de datos, el DBC detecta la presencia de celdas entrantes y solicita el ancho de banda desde un control de admision de conexion (CAC) que forma parte del sistema. El sistema de conmutacion almacena una tabla que asocia un numero de fuentes de señal conectadas al ingreso con anchos de banda de transmision predeterminados respectivos y de preferencia también, tiempos de retraso máximo. Cuando la llegada de celdas desde una de las fuentes en la puerta de entrada es detectada, el DBC envía una señal de solicitud para el ancho de banda predeterminado relevante para el CAC y retrasa la transmision de celdas hasta que por lo menos el ancho de banda predeterminado es asignado. Este retrasamiento es efectuado típicamente enviadoo una señal del indicador de la relacion de celda de regreso a la puerta de entrada para colocar a la fuente en un modo de detencion. Si nunguna asignacion del ancho de banda ha ocurrido antes del tiempo máximo de retraso respectivo, el ancho de banda es asignado robando el ancho de banda a partir de otras fuentes de señal
