Abstract
La presente invencion comprende un aparato y un método para detectar opticamente y determinar la posicion angular de un objetivo. El aparato contiene un par de sensores opticos, colocados de una manera tal que por lo menos una parte de sus áreas de percepcion se traslapan. Sus áreas de traslape, definen el área de percepcion total, o percepcion activa del aparato. Cada uno de los sensoresopticos en el aparato percibe, la luz u otras transmisiones opticamente sensibles, ya sea proyectadas o reflejadas, del objetivo colocado dentro del área de percepcion total y produce una señal relativa a la cantidad de luz percibida. Las señales luego son interpretadas para determinar la posicion angular del objetivo, basadas en las señales relativas de los sensores opticos. El método de la presente invencion, determina la posicion angular de un objetivo dentro de un área, definida mediante el traslape de las áreas de percepcion de un par de sensores opticos, mediante la interpretacion de las intensidades de las señales relativas del par de sensoresopticos. Una vez que la posicion angular es determinada, se puede calcular la distancia del objetivo desde una línea, ya sea perpendicular o paralela, a la línea central de la distribucion direccional del sensor, si la otra cantidad es conocida.
