Abstract

Una batería de ion litio que comprende un electrodo negativo, un solvente no acuoso y un electrodo positivo que tiene LiV2O5 mezclado con un material conductor. El material conductor preferentemente es carbono en una cantidad que varía aproximadamente entre 2 por ciento y 20 por ciento en peso del electrodo positivo. Se prefiere la cantidad de diez por ciento en peso. El LiV2O5 se forma descargando una mezcla de V2O5 y material conductor, en un reactor electroquímico, con un electrodo negativo de litio metálico, y que tiene una sal de electrolito en un solvente no acuoso, para reducir en un Faraday por mol de V2O5 la mezcla y convertir todo el V2O5. La celda preferentemente se descarga hasta aproximadamente 2.8 volts para formar el electrodo positivo de LiV2O5, que posteriormente se retira y es conformado a la configuracion de electrodo predeterminada, para utilizarse como un electrodo positivo en una celda, en ausencia de litio metálico.
