Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a una cabeza de impresion con boquillas de diferentes radios, que permite tamaños de gota multiples en la misma cabeza de impresion. Esto se puede utilizar para ponderar tamaños de gota para lograr una impresion de multi-nivel, permitiendo una mayor calidad de impresion con la misma resolucion. Las cabezas de impresion con seis hileras de boquillas pueden utilizar el sistema de color CC'MM'YK para alcanzar una alta calidad del impresion. Este sistema requiere tres densidades opticas diferentes: densidadoptica completa para amarillo y negro, densidad optica de 2/3 para la mayoría de los bits significativos del azul ciánico y rojo magenta, y densidad optica de 1/3 para los bits menos significativos de azul ciánico y rojo magenta. Para lograr las diferentes densidades opticas, el volumen de la gota puede ser diferente para los diversos componentes de color. Un método de manufactura para las cabezas de impresion que utiliza procesos litográficos microelectronicos sobre un disco de silicio, con canales de tinta y boquillas individuales incluidos a través del disco. Muchos miles de boquillas se pueden fabricar simultáneamente en una cabeza de impresion. El radio de las boquillas de tinta individuales está determinado por los patrones de cobertura utilizados durante los diversos procesos litográficos y las boquillas con diferentes radios puede fabricarse simultáneamente sin requerir pasos de manufactura adicionales.
