Abstract

La invencion está dirigida al tratamiento de agua de desperdicio y a otros materiales contaminados. Un compuesto de la formula general: (ZO)nAln(OH)n-mClm (o de la formula empírica cercanamente relacionada), en donde Z es derivado de un material de aluminosilicato, es preparado por la activacion del material de aluminosilicato mediante tratamiento con ácido o sometiendo el material a intercambio de iones de amonio y después calentar el material así activado en presencia de un compuesto alumino. El aluminosilicato preferido es mineral que contiene zeolita de una estructura clinoptilolita y el compuesto alumino preferido es cloruro de polialuminio. El producto resultante es de pH neutro; no toxico; adecuado para usarse en flotacion y en depositos de sedimentacion; desestabilizada las suspensiones, dispersiones y emulsiones, puede ser usado sobre un rango amplio de pHs; es anfotérico y particularmente adecuado para la eliminacion de cationes de metal pesado y de aniones fosfato; reduce la deficiencia de oxígeno en los productos químicos, la deficiencia de oxígeno biologico y hidrocarburos halogenados orgánicos adsorbibles; disminuye la cantidad de sedimento mientras incrementa simultáneamente el contenido de materia seca, no se hincha; es economico de usar; y no es dañino al entorno ambiental.
