Abstract
The present invention discloses a process for eliminating organic wastes and ammonia from waste waters of an acrylonitrile plant, said process comprising contacting volatilized waste waters with a catalyst at a high temperature for converting volatile organic compounds and ammonia into a mixture comprising hydrogen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide, which are subsequently separated and eliminated from the stream, thereby producing a purified aqueous stream, substantially free of organic compounds and ammonia.
