Abstract

La invención está dirigida a un material compuesto, especialmente un dispositivo biomédico, v. gr., un dispositivo oftálmico, preferiblemente una lente de contacto con una o varias superficies humectables capaces de mantener una capa continua de un fluido acuoso sobre las mismas, material compuesto que comprende un material en masa y un revestimiento hidrófilo, caracterizado porque el revestimiento hidrófilo consiste de un carbohidrato unido covalentemente a grupos reactivos de la superficie del material en masa, ya sea directamente o a través de grupos funcionales de un compuesto oligofuncional, teniendo a su vez dicho compuesto oligofuncional, grupos funcionales que son capaces de reaccionar con los citados grupos reactivos en la superficie del material en masa y con el carbohidrato , en donde dichos grupos reactivos están ya sea inherentemente (a priori) presentes en el material en masa, o en donde dichos grupos reactivos han sido unidos a la superficie del material en masa mediante una preparación superficial de plasma, así como también a un procedimiento para la fabricación de dicho material compuesto.
