Abstract

Un obturador doble de cara terminal mecánico orientado reverso a reverso para uso en la hermetización de fluidos tóxicos o corrosivos, que tiene una cámara para fluidos intermedia de amortiguación en la cual se dispone un gas relativamente inerte, tal como el nitrógeno, para usarse como líquido de amortiguación. El gas de nitrógeno se mantiene a una presión que excede la presión de fluido de proceso en por lo menos 0.7kg/cm2 y, en una modalidad preferencial, canales espirales de bombeo en los anillos coincidentes de cada una de las obturaciones se encuentran en una configuración y unas dimensiones tales que pueden bombear el gas de nitrógeno a través de la primera obturación desde la cámara intermedia hacia la cámara de fluido de proceso y a través de la segunda obturación desde la cámara intermedia hacia el ambiente externo a la carcasa y el área de hermetización, para de esta manera evitar el escape del fluido de proceso hacia la cámara de amortiguador intermedio y a la atmósfera. La contaminación del fluido de proceso por parte del gas de proceso se puede tolerar. El gas de amortiguación puede ser cualquier gas relativamente inerte, un gas que no sea dañino para el ambiente y sea compatible con el fluido de proceso que sea utilice; los ejemplos para estos gases son el nitrógeno, el bióxido de carbono, el aire o uno de los gases nobles. La obturación se puede usar para hermetizar un fluido de procesamiento el cual puede ser liquido o un gas.
