Abstract
Una composición para remover contaminantes de un substrato sólido seleccionado a la vez que evita el impacto ambiental negativo, comprende de: a) un oxidador seleccionado del grupo de (1) agentes oxidantes que generan peróxido de hidrógeno al ser disueltos en agua, estando el agente oxidante en una cantidad suficiente para generar desde aproximadamente el 0.01 porciento en peso de peróxido de hidrógeno en base a la composición hasta el limite de solubilidad del agente oxidante en la composición, y (2) sales de oxi-ácidos de halógeno, presentes en una cantidad de aproximadamente el 0.01 porciento en peso de la composición hasta el límite de solubilidad de la sal del oxi-ácido de halógeno en la composición: (b) un compuesto alcalino en cantidad suficiente para proporcionar un pH de 7.0 o mayor en al composición; (c) aproximadamente de 0.01 a 5.0 porciento en peso de un agente humectante seleccionado el cual no reaccione con el oxidador o con el compuesto alcalino; y (d) agua deionizada para compensar dicha composición. Opcionalmente, la composición puede contener además aproximadamente 0.01 a 10.0 porciento en peso de un agente protector de materiales seleccionado . En uso, el substracto sólido que contiene contaminantes sobre él expuesto a la composición señalada anteriormente en donde los contaminantes son removidos del substrato y son convertidos en productos no tóxicos y no peligrosos. En una modalidad alternativa, el removedor de contaminantes es mejorado exponiendo la composición y los contaminantes sobre el substratos a radiación ultravioleta.
