Abstract
En la presente se divulga un electrolizador que comprende un cátodo horizontal ubicado debajo de un ánodo suspendido con el fin de realizar la electrólisis en mezclas o soluciones que contienen metal. El cátodo horizontal puede comprender la superficie inferior de un compartimiento para contener una mezcla o solución de componentes metálicos, electrolitos y/o productos químicos complementarios. El ánodo horizontal se puede acoplar a la superficie superior de la mezcla o solución en el compartimiento. También se puede emplear un mecanismo de eliminación para facilitar la eliminación de los productos finales de la mezcla o solución. del compartimiento (y la superficie del cátodo horizontal) a través de la compuerta. Estas implementaciones se pueden utilizar en el reciclaje de baterías de plomo-ácido (LAB, por sus siglas en inglés) sin necesidad de fundición, y también se pueden aplicar a una variedad de operaciones electrolíticas diferentes.
