Abstract

La presente solicitud se relaciona con un proceso para producir propileno mediante deshidratación de isopropanol, un método para producir propileno a partir de acetona que comprende el proceso, y una planta relacionada; el proceso de deshidratación de la presente solicitud comprende un paso de someter un material de partida que contiene isopropanol a una reacción de deshidratación en la presencia de un catalizador de deshidratación que comprende alúmina para producir un producto que contiene propileno, en donde el material de partida tiene un contenido de agua de 0.1 a 10.0 % en peso (con relación a 100 % en peso de la masa total del material de partida), y el producto tiene un contenido total de impurezas insaturadas C2 e impurezas insaturadas C3-C4 de 80 ppm o menor (con relación al 100 % en peso de la masa total del producto); de conformidad con la presente solicitud, es posible inhibir significativamente la generación de subproductos indeseados mientras incrementa el índice de conversión de isopropanol.
