Abstract

Una brea de carbono o coque seco se produce haciendo reaccionar una mezcla de dióxido de carbono e hidrógeno en un reactor a una temperatura y presión predeterminadas con un catalizador de hierro que se introduce en el reactor, mediante un proceso que también implica la producción de metano a partir de los gases de reacción. El producto de reacción se enfría. El producto de reacción puede grafitizarse en un recipiente de reacción a presión reducida, calentando el recipiente a una tasa predeterminada e inyectando un flujo de gas inerte. El recipiente se calienta hasta una temperatura de entre 1600°C y 2800°C y se mantiene a esa temperatura durante horas. Se enfría el recipiente y se retiran los productos de reacción.
