Abstract
Las plantas utilizan el nitrógeno como uno de los elementos esenciales requeridos en su metabolismo. Aunque la atmósfera está compuesta predominantemente de nitrógeno molecular, las plantas no pueden descomponer estas moléculas de nitrógeno en el nitrógeno elemental requerido por las plantas. En la naturaleza, las bacterias "fijan" el nitrógeno en la atmósfera usándolo para producir amoníaco, que puede ser metabolizado por las plantas. El nitrógeno también se puede introducir en las plantas de forma artificial, utilizando fertilizantes naturales o artificiales o incluso mediante inyección directa de nitrógeno en el suelo. En todos estos casos, el nitrógeno se entrega a la planta a través de sus raíces. En cambio, la presente invención suministra amoníaco a las hojas de las plantas a través de la pulverización foliar mediante la infusión de agua utilizada en la pulverización foliar con amoníaco. Esto es más eficiente que la entrega a través de las raíces de la planta y reduce en gran medida el problema de la escorrentía de fertilizantes.
