Abstract
Se proporcionan baterías de iones de litio que incluyen materiales que proporcionan funcionalidades endotérmicas ventajosas que contribuyen a la seguridad y la estabilidad de las baterías. Si la temperatura de la batería de iones de litio se elevara por encima de un nivel predeterminado, los materiales endotérmicos servirían para proporcionar una o más funciones para prevenir y/o minimizar el potencial de fuga térmica, por ejemplo, aislamiento térmico (particularmente, a altas temperaturas), (ii) absorción de energía, (iii) ventilación de gases producidos, (iv) aumento de la presión total dentro de la estructura de la batería, (v) eliminación del calor absorbido del sistema de batería mediante la ventilación de los gases producidos durante las reacciones endotérmicas asociadas con los materiales endotérmicos, y/o (vi) dilución de gases tóxicos (si están presentes) y su expulsión segura del sistema de batería.
