Abstract
La presente invención provee un proceso para obtener a-terpineol mediante la hidratación de a-pineno, en el cual se utiliza como solvente un líquido iónico sintetizado a partir de una amina terciaria y un ácido inorgánico. El uso del líquido iónico como solvente favorece la selectividad hacia la formación de a-terpineol y al término de la reacción, una vez llevado a temperatura ambiente el producto de reacción, puede separarse físicamente de la fase orgánica de la inorgánica por decantación. La fase inorgánica contiene el líquido iónico, agua y catalizador de la reacción y puede directamente ser reutilizado para una nueva carga de reacción, reponiendo solamente el agua consumida en la reacción previa.
