Abstract

La presente invención se relaciona con un material sinterizado que comprende una primera fase y una segunda fase, en donde la primera fase está compuesta de partículas de nitruro de boro cúbico, la segunda fase está compuesta de un primer material que es ZrO2 parcialmente estabilizado en el que las partículas de Al2O3 se dispersan a lo largo de los límites del grano y/o dentro de los granos. Cuando dos o más partículas de nitruro de boro cúbicas adyacentes a, y que ponen en contacto directamente por lo menos una porción de la superficie de la primera fase se definen como un cuerpo de contacto, la segunda fase satisface Dii = Di + (2 x ?dk (k = 1 a n)); y [(Dii-Di)/Dii] x 100=50, en donde Di es la longitud de la circunferencia total del cuerpo de contacto, n es el número de puntos de contacto en contacto directo con las partículas de nitruro de boro cúbicas, dk es la longitud de los puntos de contacto, y ?dk (k = 1 a n) es la longitud total de los puntos de contacto.
