Abstract

La invención se relaciona con un codificador y un decodificador y los métodos de los mismos para soportar la codificación y decodificación de un vector de ganancia y forma dividida. El método realizado por un codificador, en donde la codificación de cada segmento de vector se somete a una limitante relacionada con un número máximo de bits, BMAX, permitidos para codificar un segmento de vector. El método comprende, determinar un número inicial, Np_init, de segmentos para un vector objetivo x; y, además, determinar un número promedio de bits por segmento, BAVG, basado en un presupuesto de bits de vector y Np_init. El método además comprende determinar un número final de segmentos a utilizarse, para el vector x, en la codificación de vector de ganancia y forma, basada en energías de los segmentos Np_init y una diferencia entre B y BAVG. La realización del método permite una asignación eficiente de los bits del presupuesto de bits sobre el vector objetivo.
